We finally got on the plane after watching a massive feud with a Nigeria family trying to get on their flight with roughly 25 pieces of hand luggage!
The 16 hour wait in Russia was extended to 17 because of the flight being delayed… death seemed a better option that waiting around at this point. The Russians were scary, and they need to install an air conditioning piece in the airport because I was sweating like a bitch all day. Once on the plane all I could smell was my sweaty ass, but then everyone else’s smells got mixed up too, it was unpleasant.
Flight was long but I got the highest score against the rest of the plane on Pac-man, and knocked everyone off the table at poker, but as I was about to beat the one remaining guy we came in to land so the TV’s went off. How inconsiderate.
We made it to China! It was bloody hot, and we were greeted by our boss Ellen, who had a sign for us in Chinese writing. Thankfully she recognised us and didn’t rely on our ability to read Chinese. The roads are mental, every few seconds the taxi man would beep his horn, despite there being nobody about.
We met a load of the people from the company/landlords, but because the apartment isn’t ready for another weak they’ve put us in a ‘hotel’. It’s vile; I was physically gagging at the state of the bathroom. We made some friends though…. 5 cockroaches, whom we played ‘it’ with until we finally caught them all and flushed them down the toilet.
Anyway, our boss took us for some lunch, in a cool little restaurant. Everything was under the equivalent of £2…… I like!! She then took us to the supermarket to get Chinese sim card and bed sheets, but we were bombarded with workers who wanted to get involved and help out. I felt so wealthy.
Went for some dinner in the evening… I wish we didn’t though. We ordered pork ears, it was a huge bowl of just ears with all the ligaments in, it was like physically cracking and munching on a human ear, we left ¾ of it, oops. This food ensured many toilet visitations the next day, producing abnormal smells, shapes and colours. (Daniel left a turquoise one!!) (For the amusement of Fisty, Stacy, Lozzer, and Abi)
We’ve been walking past lots of Chinese women in shops who have been waving, so we have been waving back assuming they’re just sweet people waving at some Westerners. We now found out that they are all prozzies, who apparently offer foot massages, but then eventually turns into a bit of a willy massage too. Tut tut.
Went out to a few bars on the Friday night, so there were more Westerners about, got chatting to a yank for a while who was the manager of the bar, got lots of drinks in and ended up in a pole dancing bar, with some business men coming in and giving us their business cards, and then putting Chinese girls on our table and trying to make us stay. We managed to slip away, but ended up in another bar with another prozzies, who wants some ‘English lessons’, I gave here a quick free one…. Behave!
Finally went to school to watch some lessons, but I’ve had the worst hangover I can remember. The teaching job seems far too easy, I can’t wait to get started. Some of the little girls are the cutest, but have some stupid names, (Clala, Bambi, Nico(for a girl)). One of the Teacher Assistants (Mandy) took us for lunch, she’s officially the cutest person I’ve ever met. She said she’s doing part time at the moment because she wants some time to ‘play with her friends’. I wanted to cuddle her when she said that. Went for lunch, where all 3 of us had 3 main meals…. Which came to a combined total of £2.60!!
My writing was momentarily disturbed to chase 2 huge cockroaches away, I feel sick at the thought of them. Bluh….
All in all, I’m loving the experience so far, and can’t wait to get working schedule and move into the apartment and get into a routine, and then have some visitors over.
I do miss English TV though =[, and I’m so behind on the football, can’t wait to get the internet. (I miss family and friends too!!)
Untill next time, traa traaa!
